Dear Friends of Wholespire,
We’re writing to share an important update with you—our valued supporters, advocates, funders, and partners.
This year, Wholespire has experienced funding cuts that have required us to make some difficult decisions. Yet even in the face of these challenges, our commitment to inspiring wellness in all communities across South Carolina has never wavered.
We are proud of the impact we’ve made this year—through Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) strategies, by Connecting and Convening with partners, Advocating for change at the State House, and Sharing Knowledge through professional development and skills-based trainings.
As we approach the end of the year, Wholespire’s impact is already clear. We’ve provided professional development training to over 500 individuals, with webinar registrations continuing to grow this quarter. Our advocacy at the State House helped pass legislation supporting Healthy School Meals for All, resulting in over 80% of public school children in South Carolina now being offered free meals—and those eligible for reduced-price meals no longer have to pay. Additionally, we’re partnering with seven communities on walkability projects to improve local infrastructure and promote active living. These metrics reflect a highly productive year, and we look forward to sharing even more data and stories that highlight our progress. These efforts continue to reflect our mission and values, and we remain focused on implementing our strategic plan with purpose and integrity.
As Wholespire evolves, we’re transitioning to a 100% contractor-based model—a strategic shift that allows us to stay agile, responsive, and focused on our mission. This change will not affect our external collaborations or our commitment to mission-driven planning and implementation. Instead, it strengthens our internal operations, enabling us to work more efficiently and sustainably. We’re also incredibly grateful to our Board of Directors, who are stepping into expanded roles to represent Wholespire across a broader range of topic areas and help guide our path forward with insight and leadership.
Above all, we want you to know how much we value our relationships. Your support, collaboration, and belief in our work are what make our progress possible. Together, we are building a future where every South Carolinian has the opportunity to live a healthier life.
We remain hopeful and energized for what’s ahead. With your continued partnership, Wholespire will keep moving forward—innovating, advocating, and leading change.
